The Guthrie High School wrestling qualified nine wrestlers for the state tournament this past season. Now, nine grapplers and head coach Justin Stevens were were recognized on the Suburban Conference post season honor list.
Stevens was named the conference coach of the year after helping the Jays qualify the most wrestlers for the state tournament in some time.
Alex Fields, Caleb Nelson, Dean Madison, Kurgan Cornwell and JB Simpson were named to the conference’s first team.
Bryndun Herendeen and Dane Jenkins were named to the second team.
The third team was highlighted by Allen Tomlinson and Michael Miller.
Madison, a freshmen, was named the conference’s newcomer of the year.
