Central States Football League announced their conference post season awards and
five Guthrie BlueJays made the list for the Northwester Oklahoma State football
team.
Headlining the list is 2005 alum Kyle Koricanek, who was named to the first team
on the offensive line as well as All Conference Academic. Jonathan Washington,
an 08 graduate, was also named to the all conference academic team.
Making the first team defense on the defensive line was Kevin McDonald. The 2005
GHS alum finished his senior campaign with 27 tackles, eight for losses, and one
and half sacks.
2008 Guthrie graduate, Kent McDonald, and 2009 grad Clayton Smith were named as
honorable mention for the Rangers, who finished with a 7-3 record.
The Rangers signed Mikey Johns and Martell Oates to join the Rangers for the
2010 season.
“We are extremely proud of this recruiting class,” head coach Keith
Barefield said on the NWOSU website. “It effectively meets both our immediate as
well as long range needs. With the large number of starters returning from this
past season, many of these young men will not need to be pressed into service
early, but the talent of this class will allow many to push returners for
playing time as soon as they arrive on campus.”
