The Guthrie BlueJays won the Suburban Conference track competition, last Friday, at Western Heights High School and for the Lady Jays Rachel Roberts took first in multiple events.
Laron
Parker and Emmanuel Robinson took second and third, respectively, in the 100m
dash behind Chickasha's Juron Woods. Parker also took second in the 400m dash.
BlueJay Timothy Eads ran a 2:13:23 in the 800m run and was good for a second place finish behind Shawnee's Jordan Robbins. Guthrie's Alex Dorio took fifth.
Hunter Sallee won the 1600m run with a time of 4:53:61 and teammate Jason Ogan finished second.
Zack Cates ran a 10:56.70 in the 3200m run and came away with the silver medal behind Aaron White of Deer Creek.
Robinson took gold for the Jays in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.38 while Tel Junghannas took third with a time of 15.87. Junghannas would turn around and take second in the 300m hurdles and Robinson finished third.
In the boys relay's, the Jays took second in the 4x100m and third in the 4x800m.
Donte' Foster took the high jump gold with a leap of 5-08.00, Kolt Rhinehart did the same in the pole vault, and Reese Hand finished on top of the discus throw.
Rachel Roberts shines for Lady Jays
Roberts won both the 800m and 1600m runs in dominating fashion. She won the 800 (2:30.07) by five seconds and the 1600 (5:33.67) by almost a full minute.
Leslie Hughes won the high jump competition with a 4-08.00 mark and team mate Alexis Daniels finished second with a leap of 4-06.00. Senior Jessica Peacock, who will be attending Redlands this fall, took the honors in the discus throw with a toss of 110-05
In the girls pole vault Guthrie's Erika Guerro took fourth place while Charle King finished fifth.
Both teams will next be in action May 9th for regional action at Edmond Santa Fe. The Jays will be grouped with Altus, Carl Albert, Deer Creek, Duncan, El Reno, NW Classen, and Noble. The State meet will be May 15 and 16 at Moore HS.
