For the second consecutive week to begin the cross country season, the Guthrie
BlueJays won their second meet this time in Western Oklahoma.
Jason Ogan, who last week won his second Guthrie Cottonwood Flats Invitational,
helped lead the Jays with a dominating performance at the Weatherford Sand Plum.
The Sand Plum witness six BlueJays landing in the top 9 and finished with a
combine team score of 22.2 points and Watonga was a distance second with a team score of 90.
Ogan finished second overall with a time of 10:30 and 14 seconds behind the
winner Nigel Hampton, of Watonga, in the 2-mile run.
Hunter Sallee followed Ogan 10 seconds later across the finish line to place
third. Twin brother, Jared Ogan came in at 10:50 overall for fourth place with younger
brother Jonathan Ogan coming across 2-seconds later at 10:52 for sixth, Zac
Cates finished seventh, 11:03, while Colin Betchan rounded out the Jays with a
ninth place finish (11:18).
In the junior varsity run, Guthrie finished five runners in the top six with the
top two runner and winner in Alex Dorio . Newly added BlueJay Kolt Rhineheart
finished seven seconds behind Dorio with a time of 11:53.
Steven Bisig was fourth (12:31), Sage Russel came across fifth (12:40), and Dillion Cromwell (13:08). Raymond Littleton rounded out the top 10 with a final
time of (13:43).
Kody Moorela and Jordan Crawford also competed for the junior varsity.
In the girls division,
Rachel Roberts just missed out of the top three of the Sand Plum run by
2-seconds as she competed in her second meet of the year. Roberts finished with
a time of 5:54 in the 1-mile race. Watonga's Coriann Hoar took home the first
place medal with an overall time of 5:42.
