Cross Country teams open season in Guthrie

The Guthrie 2008 Cross Country season will begin Friday, August 29th with the annual Guthrie Cottonwood Flats Invitational.

Race time is set for 4:15 with the Guthrie Lady Jays and the rest of 5A and below. The ladies will run a 2-mile course laid out on the flats on the west side of Guthrie. The 5A and below boys will follow with a 3-mile race.

After the 5A races the junior varsity boys and girls team will run the same course and the final two races will be the 6A girls and 6A boys varsity races.

In all of the races, medals will be given out to the Top 20 finishers.

Last season the Cottonwood Creek over flowed its boundaries, but lowered just in time for the meet to happen.

Lady Jays stand-out runner, Rachel Roberts, finished third place with a time of 6:41 and 33 seconds behind Madill's Heather Dugan. As a team the Lady Jays finished sixth.

For the BlueJays they return Jason and Jared Ogan and Zach Cates back to the squad.
