Lady Jays duo in top three, again
By: Chris Evans
Guthrie’s cross country duo of senior Amanda Davis and sophomore Rachel Roberts proved once again that they are two of the best in the state.
Davis and Roberts participated in the 23rd Annual Marlow Cross Country Meet on Saturday and ran away with second and third place finishes.
Crossing the line first, of the duo, was Roberts with a time of 12:34 for a second place finish. Meanwhile, Davis crossed at the 12:51 mark for her third place medal. The Marlow meet was a 2 mile race which was the first of the season for the Lady Jays.
Davis and Roberts have now finished third and fourth, first and second, and now second and third. Roberts finished third in the Cottonwood Flats Invitational, in Guthrie, and Davis fourth. Davis won the Weatherford Sand Plum Invitational and Roberts finished second, and this weekend Roberts had her second place finish and Davis's third place finish.
Marlow is one of two possible regional sites that the Lady Jays may find themselves running in. The other possible site would be Kellyville if the Lady Jays were sent packing East.
Guthrie did not participate in team competition, but did compete as individuals.
In the boy’s three mile race, junior Jason Ogan finished in 24th place.
