For the better part of last week, it seemed as if many Bluejay fans either hadn’t noticed how good El Reno had become since last year, or simply didn’t believe it. The Indian performance last Friday should be enough proof that they deserve all the credit that may come their way.

The BlueJay InsiderKeep in mind, their senior group, led by the Dauphin brothers (Cory and Cody) and QB Jakeil Everhart, never lost in junior high, and were the group marked as the next to uphold a pretty proud tradition of El Reno football. Match that with a very good coach, Tom Cobble, and you have a match made for success.

Now, enough about the other guys, let’s talk about our Bluejays.

As the headline says, there is no I in team. Furthermore, when I use the term Bluejays, I refer to the entire program, which includes players, coaches, trainers etc… and fans. It has been warned that the Bluejays are young in some spots and inexperienced in others. Combine that with the competition of two very good football teams in McGuinness and El Reno, and it has been a perfect storm for frustration.

When watering ourselves around the cooler this week, let’s try and remember a comment that coach Rafe Watkins made after the game this weekend. “We’re all in this together.” If you want to see this team get better, keep supporting it. As Coach Watkins always says, “Bluejay fans are the best.” Hard to argue with that point!

Homecoming or not, packing both sides of the stands is an incredibly impressive showing of support. But, it’s pretty easy to be the best when your team is good, setting records and contending for titles. It will be interesting to see how the "Bluejay Nation" handles this 3-game losing streak and an 0-2 start.

The BlueJay Insider does not think it can be disputed that Guthrie fans will continue to show up in droves, pack both sides of the stadium and show their support in the stands.

Bluejay fans have proven their loyalty, and there is no reason to think otherwise. Likewise, despite faltering early in this season, this program, including players and coaches, will do the same. For the naysayer, I ask one question. Do you think the Bluejays will make the playoffs? I do! I also think that when our young offense finally has a chance to get its feet underneath it, and not play one of the best and most experienced defenses in 5A, it will be fine.

I guess the point The BlueJay Insider is trying to make is that, with the circumstances that have been presented, it is waaaaay to early to tell how good the Bluejays could become this year. Oh yea, and also, remember were in this together, and the coaches and players are certainly are not going to point fingers, nor should the fans. Calling out any player, in any public forum is just not acceptable at any time.
