The Guthrie BlueJays enter Stout
Field, in Piedmont, looking to get into the offensive groove this season. Along
the same lines so is Piedmont.
Guthrie
and Piedmont will meet for the fourth and final scheduled time
Friday night in a series that the Jays lead 3-0.
The Jays won a year
ago 35-7 inside Jelsma. In the three combined games, Guthrie has
outscored Piedmont 120-14.

Both teams enter the
contest on 3-game losing streaks. Guthrie has lost to Booker T.,
McGuinness, and El Reno. Meanwhile, Piedmont has dropped games
to Douglass, Deer Creek, and Harrah.
Although, Guthrie has
played more of a hefty schedule then their opponent to begin the
2009 season, the Jays and Wildcats have combined to score just
18 points in the first two weeks.
The Wildcats a season
ago were 3-7 overall and prior to that were 0-10 in 2007.
Rob Green takes over
the program as head coach and has brought the spread
offense with him. The Wildcats prior to Green ran the multiple
I. Green has been at multiple programs both on the college and
high school level. Last year he was coaching small college
football in Oklahoma.
The spread offense
will help display senior quarterback Travis Mustain (5'11, 170).
Mustain threw for over 500-yards a year ago, but was intercepted
9 times with four touchdown throws.
Piedmont may also
play junior quarterback Austin Cowan (5'9, 165).
The Wildcat
quarterbacks favorite target is the 6'4 junior wide-out Keith
Vick. Vick, who played in just six games as a sophomore, brought
in 7-catches for 104-yards and one score a season ago.

the Wildcat defense Piedmont is coming off a 21-11
loss to Harrah and is currently 0-2. |
The offensive line
averages out 6'1 and 218 pounds, but has had to replace their
entire line from last years team. Corbin Ross is the best
blocker on the line at his tight end position.
In the Week 1 loss to
Deer Creek, Piedmont committed five turnovers and the Antlers
capitalized early by scoring on the first two turnovers. Mustain
finished the night 11-of-34 for 156 yards and four
interceptions.
Turnovers continued
to haunt Piedmont in last weeks lost to Harrah despite just
trailing 7-3 at the half. The Wildcats committed six
interceptions and two fumbles to the Panthers. Again, the
turnovers led to points for the opposing team.
The pre-game is set for 7:00. The radio broadcast will be played
back on Sunday nights on GSP Radio. The game can be heard on
Triple Play Sports Radio 105.1 FM, and streaming live on Guthrie
Sports Page Radio.
GSP is also making it available to all fans to listen to the
game inside the stadium on their radio players on 105.1 FM all
season long.
