The Guthrie High School wrestling team sent a believed record of nine wrestlers to the Oklahoma High School State Wrestling Championships last week in Oklahoma City.
Headlining the weekend was Alex Fields, who finished as the state champion runner-up after dropping his only match in the finals against Collinsville’s Rocky Stevens, 10-0.
Fields finishes the season with a 35-4 record.
Kurgan Cornwell capped off a great Bluejay career after making his third state tournament appearance.
Cornwell (pictured below) finished third and ended his season with a 36-7 record.
Cornwell defeated top-seeded David Hunter, of Duncan, in his final match.
Caleb Nelson and Dane Jenkins advanced to the second day of the tournament, but dropped their third match.
Nelson finishes with a 28-10 record and Jenkins 26-9.
