The Guthrie High School girl’s tennis team continues to gain momentum as the season has progressed. On Monday, it paid off as four Lady Jays advanced to the 2016 State tournament.
The tennis team traveled to Claremore for the 5A regional and competed with Claremore, Bishop Kelley, Edison Prep, Tulsa Memorial, Pryor, Tahlequah and Shawnee.
The doubles team of Jillian Chappell and Makaya Coker reached the regional championship, but fell short to finish second.

“So proud of these girls,” head coach Mary Hudson said.
